Change is possible
I offer individual and couples therapy in Port Coquitlam and Pitt Meadows – in person and online. Whether you’re seeking support for anxiety, depression, addiction or relationship challenges, or simply feeling stuck, we’ll work together to create meaningful change.
I offer supportive, evidence-based counselling for anxiety, depression, and stress. With over twenty years of experience, I help clients understand what’s keeping them stuck and build practical tools to feel more grounded. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your needs.
For couples navigating conflict, disconnection, or major life transitions, I offer a supportive space to slow down, understand what’s happening between you, and find a way forward. Trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, I help partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen connection.
I provide counselling for people struggling with problem gambling, as well as spouses and family affected by it. With fifteen years of specialized experience and as host of the podcast, Fold em: Help for Gambling Problems, I understand the stress, secrecy, conflict, and uncertainty that gambling problems can create. My approach is practical, compassionate, and focused on helping people regain stability and move forward.
Specialized Support, Grounded in Experience
I worked as a counsellor in a non-profit family service agency for more than twenty years, providing accessible counselling to people in our community. Over this time, I’ve supported individuals and couples with a wide range of concerns.
While I welcome clients with diverse needs, I have particular training and experience in:
Anxiety & stress management
Depression & low mood
Strengthening and healing relationships
Gambling concerns and recovery from addictions
I offer LGBTQ+ affirming and gender-affirming counselling, grounded in respect, openness, and ongoing learning.
Will Counselling Work for Me?
It’s natural to wonder whether counselling will make a difference. Many people feel unsure before starting – you’re not alone.
During my twenty years at SHARE Family and Community Services, we regularly tracked client progress using Feedback Informed Treatment. Here’s what my clients experienced:
More than 70% reported reliable, positive change
Most began to feel significant improvement in fewer than 8 sessions
If counselling isn’t helping you feel better, I’ll check in with you about what’s not working. Together, we can adjust our approach or explore additional resources to ensure you’re getting the support you need.
Sessions Details and Fees
How do counselling sessions work?
Sessions are 50 or 80 minutes in length.
We can meet in person, by video, or by phone — or use a combination, depending on what works best for you.
Your first session is a chance for you to see if my approach feels like a good fit. I’ll also ask a few extra questions to understand your background and your hopes for counselling.
Together, we’ll develop a plan for how often to meet and for how long. Many clients notice improvement within just a few sessions, and most don’t need more than eight appointments.
My approach is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to your needs — blending guidance with practical tools you can use in daily life.
How much does counselling cost? Do my benefits cover it? How do I pay?
- My fee is $160 for a 50-minute individual appointment and $180 for a 50-minute couples session
- If you’d like more time, I also offer 80-minute appointments
- Many extended health plans cover counselling. If you have a plan, check to confirm coverage for a Registered Clinical Social Worker
- I offer direct billing for Greenshield and SunLife. With other plans, you pay up front, and then submit your receipt for reimbursement
- I accept e-transfer, credit card, cheque and cash
What if I can’t afford therapy?
- I believe cost should never stand in the way of getting help. If my services aren’t within your budget, contact me and I’ll share resources for free or low-cost counselling options in your community.
