ADRIENNE COSSOM THERAPY

Depression Therapy Pitt Meadows

You’re here because something inside you is tired of living under the weight of depression. Tired of the heaviness. Tired of feeling like your life keeps slowing down, while the world around you keeps moving.

You want your energy back. Your motivation back. Your confidence back. But right now you’re not sure what to do differently.

Maybe this is the first time depression has shown up in your life. Or maybe it’s something that has come and gone for years, like a dark cloud that never fully disappears. Always hovering just below the surface.
Leaving you feeling flat. Disconnected. Alone.

Here’s the first thing you need to hear: This is not your fault. Depression is not a personal failure. It is a real condition with biological and genetic factors that affect millions of people.

Yet when you’re in it, it rarely feels that way. It feels like weakness. Like you should be able to snap out of it. Like everyone else somehow figured out life, except you

You Want To Change

But the fact that you’re reading this right now says something powerful. A part of you still wants things to change. A part of you knows life can feel better than this. And that small spark of awareness is where real change begins.

Because depression thrives on one thing above all else: Isolation. It tells you to withdraw. To cancel plans. To keep things to yourself. To believe nothing will help anyway. And the more you listen to that voice, the tighter the cycle becomes.

Sadness deepens. Motivation disappears. Things you once enjoyed stop feeling meaningful. Hopeless thoughts creep in. You start believing the lie that this is just how life will always feel.

Imagine Something Different

Imagine depression showing up, and instead of taking control, you know exactly how to respond. You understand the early warning signs. You have a plan that helps you stay connected to what matters in your life. You have tools that prevent the spiral from deepening. And you have people who understand what you’re going through.

You’re no longer fighting it alone. You feel prepared. Steady. Capable. Depression may visit from time to time, but it no longer runs your life.

My Experience

adrienne web

For more than twenty years, I worked in a non-profit agency helping people break free from the cycle of depression. I’ve seen firsthand that depression is treatable. Not with empty encouragement. But with practical, evidence-based strategies that help you understand: What triggers depressive cycles. What keeps them going? And how to interrupt them before they take over.

Together, we’ll look at what you’ve tried before. What helped. What didn’t? Then we’ll build a clear, realistic plan tailored to you. A plan that helps you regain stability, rebuild confidence, and protect your progress so depression doesn’t keep pulling you backward.

One of the most powerful parts of recovery is knowing this: Even if depression shows up again, you won’t be helpless against it. You’ll know what to do. You’ll know who to reach out to. And you’ll know that your life is bigger than this illness.

A calmer mind. A renewed sense of direction. The confidence that you’re actively taking care of yourself. All of that starts with one step.

All of that starts with one step.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do counselling sessions work?

  • Sessions are 50 or 80 minutes in length.

  • We can meet in person, by video, or by phone — or use a combination, depending on what works best for you.

  • Your first session is a chance for you to see if my approach feels like a good fit. I’ll also ask a few extra questions to understand your background and your hopes for counselling.

  • Together, we’ll develop a plan for how often to meet and for how long. Many clients notice improvement within just a few sessions, and most don’t need more than eight appointments.

  • My approach is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to your needs — blending guidance with practical tools you can use in daily life.

How much does counselling cost?  Do my benefits cover the cost?  How do I pay?

  • My fee is $160 for a 50-minute individual appointment and $180 for a 50-minute couples session
  • Many extended health plans cover counselling.  If you have a plan, check to confirm coverage for a Registered Clinical Social Worker
  • I offer direct billing for Greenshield and Sunlife.  For those of you with other benefit plans, I ask that you pay on the the day of the appointment.  I will then email you a receipt which you can submit for reimbursement
  • I accept payment by e-transfer, credit card, cheque and cash

What if I can’t afford therapy?

  • I believe cost should never stand in the way of getting help. If my services aren’t within your budget, contact me and I’ll share resources for free or low-cost counselling options in your community.

How do I book an appointment?  What is your availability?

  • You can view my availability and book directly online through the bookings app links on my Contact page

  • I offer both daytime and evening appointments in my Port Coquitlam and Pitt Meadows offices
